Modern Slavery Act Statement
According to the Modern Slavery Act 2015, commercial organizations that carry out all or part of their business in the United Kingdom are required to publish a transparency statement informing consumers about the efforts to eradicate slavery and human trafficking.
We, Fifth Line (“Fifth Line”), are a part of the industry that can educate consumers on how to purchase goods produced by companies that responsibly manage their supply chains. Fifth Line is committed to ensuring ethical and fair-labor practices within our own operations and we seek and expect from our suppliers to do the same.
The structure of our organization, business, and supply chains
Fifth Line offers products worldwide, including the United Kingdom and we are partnered with fulfillment and warehousing companies with teams of more than 1,000 people working across six locations in the U.S., Mexico, Spain, and Latvia. They also contract a wide variety of various suppliers located in the U.S., the EU, and other countries and regions to provide them with the materials for their production.
Fifth Line’s policies in relation to slavery and human trafficking
We ensure that our supply chain partners and vendors have asked their suppliers to sign an Anti-slavery or Forced labor certificate acknowledging that the supplier as well as its subcontractors will comply with all applicable laws that prohibit slavery and human trafficking. Our supply chain partner has also drafted a Supplier Code of Conduct that intends to set forth our standards and expectations with respect to key areas of corporate responsibility, including a requirement for their suppliers not to support forced labor and not to collaborate with organizations that use illegal employment practices.
Due diligence processes
Our relationships with vendors are based on lawful, efficient and fair practices. We expect our vendors to obey the laws that require them to treat workers fairly, and provide a safe and healthy work environment. We require our vendors to confirm in writing via a vendor agreement that they, and the factories they use, conform to these standards, and we maintain a file of these agreements.
We also reserve the right to require third-party audits of our vendors and the factories they use to verify each supplier’s compliance with local laws. We reserve the right to terminate the relationship with any vendor who fails to comply with our requirements.
Within our own internal operations, a part of our initiative to mitigate the risks for slavery and human trafficking is the implementation of internal policies which include Whistleblower, Anti-bribery, and Health and Safety policies.
